Trey Songz Enlists Lil Wayne, J. Cole, & Kelly Rowland for ‘Chapter 5’

Trey Songz and mother

With Mother’s Day right around the corner, Trey Songz and his mom April Tucker called into Power 99’s Morning Show on Friday. The radio hosts grilled Mama Songz on her famous son’s nicknames and got her thoughts on Kelly Rowland, who appeared in Trey’s “Heart Attack” video.

“He’s a mama’s boy, but he’s his own man at the same time,” said April. “I think that’s the best combination. He has great reverence and respect for me, but he still comes home and lays his head across my lap when it’s time to watch TV.”

She also revealed one of Trey’s more embarrassing nicknames. “I call him my Maxi Me ’cause he looks a lot like me.”

His on-screen co-star Kelly Rowland gets mom’s seal of approval. “I think they look very cute,” said April. “I was on set and she’s very sweet and they have amazing chemistry in front of the camera, but they’re good friends. I like her though, she’s a sweetheart.”

Trey’s new album Chapter 5 is due out mid-summer featuring some big names. “I got a record with Tip on there ['2 Reasons'],” said Trigga. “Shout out to [Lil] Wayne, Big Sean, J. Cole, Kelly Rowland as well. A lot of great features thus far and I’m still recording.”

Iggy Azalea Teams with Trey Songz for ‘Unexpected’ Collaboration

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea stopped by MTV’s Times Square studios on Monday to tape the late-night talk show “MTV’s Hip Hop POV.” The blonde Aussie chatted with the panel for an episode that will air Wednesday at midnight.

In addition to T.I. and her Hustle Gang family, the “Murda Bizness” rapper has collaborated with Trey Songz on “Waste It All,” a cut off her upcoming debut The New Classic. “I did do a song with Trey Songz that’s kind of unexpected,” she told The Boombox. “The beat, and the way he sings, it’s kind of different [from] his regular style. I’m going to put that out, probably before the album.”

The Interscope Records release will represent her different sides. “Some stuff is very base-driven, stripped down, more southern-sounding. Then other stuff is more mood and closer to my ignorant [side],” shared Iggy. “I kind of like have two different zones. It’s ratchet, then introspective, I guess. Those are the two sounds, and I’m trying to glue all the things together, and find things that will make it cohesive.”

She also professed her love for Missy Elliott. “She’s my No. 1 female,” gushed Iggy. “She’s a writer, she has the crazy videos, she just does her own thing. She pulls her own as a singer, a rapper, everything. She’s one of the greatest girls ever, and I love her.”

Check out more pics from Iggy’s visit to MTV below.

Chris Brown, Kelly Rowland, Big Sean, & Trey Songz Storm Sydney for Supafest

Chris Brown

Some of the biggest hip-hop and R&B stars in the U.S. traveled Down Under for Supafest 2012, Australia’s largest urban music festival.

A tatted Chris Brown thrilled with his chart-topping hits, Kelly Rowland added some sizzle to the stage, Lupe Fiasco raged in a Bulls jersey, and Big Sean and Trey Songz catered to the ladies during the second day in Sydney.

Diddy and Rick Ross pulled out at the last minute, citing issues with promoters, but hip-hop vets Ice Cube, Ludacris, and Naughty by Nature filled the void.

The four-date festival will also play Melbourne and Perth, and is expected to draw over 100,000 attendees.
